Black Eyed Peas, Lukas Graham, and Dean Lewis among 16 new acts added to TB23
The calendar finally shows 2023 which means we’re one exciting step closer to summer, sunshine and – most importantly – the festival season!
A bunch of names has already announced, including headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers and Maroon 5. Now, another 19 have been added to the bill.
American trio Black Eyed Peas might not need a big introduction. Fronted by will.i.am they were part of shaping the sound of the 2000s with their, at that time, unique blend of pop, R&B, and hip hop and smashing hits like “Where Is The Love”, “My Humps” and “Shut Up”.
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis rose to fame in Denmark last year, after a participant in Danish X Factor performed “Half A Man” at his audition. Dean Lewis conquered the charts and performed in front of thousands of fans at a sold-out tour around Denmark.
Another group who’s had great success in Denmark is the NYC-based, multi-cultural collective Gogol Bordello with Ukrainian Eugene Hütz in front. With their unique blend of Western, Eastern, and Latin music traditions, they’re known for their high-energy swing-punk performances.
It’s not a common thing for Danish acts to be affiliated with the GRAMMYs, but Lukas Graham were, when the pop group received two nominations back in 2017 for ‘Recording of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ thanks to their massive hit “7 Years”. Lukas Graham is now one of the biggest acts in Denmark and have released big hits with features including G-Eazy, Whiz Khalifa, and Khalid.
British pop stars on the rise and Danish darlings
Each year, Tinderbox presents a string of new acts at the tent stage and this year, the UK pop scene is well-represented with RAYE and BRIT-nominated Mimi Webb who’ll both soon be releasing their much-anticipated debut records. Another BRIT-nominated artist added to the bill is rising star Cat Burns who will take the stage with her critically acclaimed modern singer-songwriting, while another rising UK act Dylan will unleash her million-streaming, catchy pop songs at this year’s festival.
The flourishing Danish hip hop scene also plays a big role in today’s announcement. For the fourth year in a row, Gilli was the most streamed artist in Denmark (beating the likes of Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Drake) and recently played his first arena headline show in Copenhagen. Added to the lineup are also rising stars Artigeardit and Lamin, local afrobeat-artist ICEKIID and newcomer D1MA whose remix of James Hype’s viral hit “Ferrari” has been streamed over a million times on Spotify.
Danish newcomer Dopha has been compared with the likes of Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift and has been called one of the best new live acts in Denmark. Danish R&B-duo Phlake is known for their international sound just like pop star Christopher, who’s recently worked with K-pop icon Chung Ha.
The festival also presents several names performing in Danish, including the very popular R&B-artist Hans Philip, Folk-rock trio Folkeklubben, the eclectic electro-rock group Hugorm, and rising pop artist Pil.
1/2-day tickets go on sale Tuesday January 31st 10am CET.
With today’s announcement, the lineup for the three main stages, Red Stage, Blue Stage, and the Tent Stage, is close to done. Fans of electronic music can still look forward to seeing who’ll be performing at the very popular electronic stage Magicbox. This will be announced in the beginning of the spring.
The festival has also revealed which day each artist will be playing and will be kicking off the sale of 1 and 2-day tickets on Tuesday January 31st, 10 am CET here.
