Britpop legend Liam Gallagher and resurrected Village People to play Tinderbox

The first additions of this year to the Tinderbox line-up have finally landed, and in addition to the former Oasis frontman, Tinderbox welcomes to Odense, among others, the disco phenomenon Village People, soul talent Michael Kiwanuka and Bring Me The Horizon.

All you need is one magic word – “Wonderwall” – if you want to instantly recollect the sound of Liam Gallagher‘s raw and iconic voice. In his notoriously nonchalant fashion, he was the frontman of the Britpop phenomenon Oasis in the 90s, and his charismatic voice is still synonymous with immortal hits such as “Champagne Supernova” and “Roll With It”. Although Oasis is a thing of the past, Gallagher still embraces the masterpieces of the day, when he enters the stage as a solo artist – and the songs gain new life in close union with his own critically acclaimed solo works. MTV made it clear that Liam Gallagher truly is ‘one of a kind’, when they presented the parka-clad legend with a “Rock Icon Award” as the first ever to receive it in 2019.

It is going to be a phenomenal and unifying celebration of life when legendary Village People enter the stage with megahits such as “In the Navy”, “Macho Man” and not least “YMCA”, wearing their distinctive alter ego outfits such as ‘the Biker’, ‘the Indian Chief’ and ‘the Cop’. The latter is portrayed by the band’s original lead singer, Victor Willis, who leads the party crew once again after a hiatus of more than 30 years. 100 million albums sold worldwide is a clear testament to their enormous popularity, and it is no less than a sensation that we are able to welcome the iconic group to Denmark this summer.

Since the debut album “Love & Hate” from 2012, British soul sensation Michael Kiwanuka has captivated his audience with compositions in which a highly detailed musical universe complements his almost meditative voice to perfection. Seeing Kiwanuka live is an intense and heartfelt experience, where gems like “Home Again” and “Cold Little Heart” slip directly into your soul and call to mind both Otis Redding and Bill Withers.

With the addition of Britain’s Bring Me The Horizon, the scene is set for a metalcore energy blast at Tinderbox. Last year, the band released their sixth studio album “Amo”, which features an eclectic mix of hedonistic pop, electronica and hard rock. With Bring Me The Horizon, an epic show is guaranteed – both musically and visually. Since he made his debut with the single “Født i Dag” in 2011, the rap phenomenon Kesi has taken Denmark by storm. As part of the B.O.C rap collective, he is one of the most predominant acts on the new Danish urban scene and, not least, the brilliant mind behind smash hits such as “Mamacita” and “Su Casa”.
Snoh Aalegra is guaranteed to deliver a magnificent musical experience with her unique fusion of a hip-hop-inspired universe and crisp R&B vocals. The Swedish-born mega talent has relocated to Los Angeles and is just on the verge of a big international breakthrough – with parallels being drawn to ‘the queen mother of smooth soul’: Sade.

Three new sublime additions are joining this year’s DJ line-up at MagicBox. DallasK is the brain behind the remix of “In The name Of Love”, and since 2010 he has produced numerous hits and collaborated with, among others, Tiësto and Martin Garrix. The Dutch trance duo W&W had their big commercial breakthrough in 2014 with the single “Bigfoot”, and together with Regard, who in 2019 went straight to the top worldwide with his house cover of “Ride It”, yet another batch of massive names has been added to the Magicbox party.

Bring Me The Horizon, Kesi, Snoh Aalegra, W&W and Regard play Thursday, June 25.
Village People, Liam Gallagher and DallasK play Friday, June 26.
Michael Kiwanuka plays Saturday, June 27.

Tinderbox takes place in Tusindårsskoven, Odense, Denmark on June 25-27 2020. Tickets are available here.
