Superstar duo The Chainsmokers will play Tinderbox

The American sensation are added to the poster alongside Sheryl Crow, Skunk Anansie, and Gnags

This summer, The Chainsmokers will play at a Danish festival for the first time ever, and the incredibly successful duo’s debut will undoubtedly be a world-class party.

One of the biggest hits in the world over the last three years has been the song “Closer” by The Chainsmokers, which is the third most streamed song on Spotify ever! The song also has more than 2.7 billion plays on YouTube, and it has been number one on the single charts in more than 20 different countries including Denmark, where it has achieved double platinum.

Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall from The Chainsmokers debuted in 2014 with the song “#Selfie”, and in less than five years they have become the biggest US EDM name ever. The Grammy-winning “Don’t Let Me Down” and the collaboration with Coldplay on “Something Just Like This”, together with “Closer”, mean The Chainsmokers have three songs in the top 25 of the most streamed songs on Spotify ever, which only Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber have also achieved.

The American duo is one of the biggest acts in the world right now, measured by streaming and radio hits, and at their shows they blend passages with live drums, keyboards, and Andrew Taggart’s vocals into their DJ set, providing a varied and hugely energetic concert experience.

After a period as a backup singer for, among others, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow had a huge breakthrough with the debut album “Tuesday Night Music Club” in 1993. Since then, she has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, received 9 Grammy awards and has recorded the song “Tomorrow Never Dies” for the James Bond movie of the same name.

The debut record generated six singles including “All I Wanna Do” and “Strong Enough”, where Crow’s outstanding ability to mix rock, pop, and country really stands out. The success continued with songs like “If It Makes You Happy”, “Everyday is a Winding Road”, “My Favorite Mistake”, “Soak Up the Sun” and cover versions of “The First Cut is the Deepest” (Cat Stevens) and the Guns N’ Roses classic “Sweet Child O’ Mine”. Not surprisingly, Rolling Stone Magazine had her second album, “Sheryl Crow”, on their list of the best rock ‘n’ roll records of the 90s.

Sheryl Crow has over the years built an incredibly strong catalog of catchy hits that she performs at her concerts with equal parts of charm, passion, and tongue in cheek. The American songwriter has not visited Denmark since 2010, so it’s about time she returns and especially to Funen, where she last visited to play the Midtfyns Festival in 1997.

An cancellation for Tinderbox last year is now a great addition to the 2019 line-up as Skunk Anansie is added to this year’s poster. The band can celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, which will be celebrated on January 25th with the release of the live album “25Live@25”, where classics such as “Weak”, “Charity”, “All I Want”, “Brazen (Weep)”, and “Hedonism” all are presented in great live versions. Skin and the rest of Skunk Anansie was requested by many, both before and after the cancellation, so the reception will surely be incredible, when the band takes the stage in this summer.

Gnags is the fourth and last act, which this summer will gets its debut at Tinderbox in this round of announcements. The band behind “Vilde kaniner”, “Mr. Swing King”, ”Den dejligste morgen”,”Danmark” and a myriad of other hits have for decades delivered some of the most festive and most engaging concerts in Denmark. They always come to start a party, and there will be plenty to sing along to, when the band visits Tinderbox.
