NEIL YOUNG + PROMISE OF THE REAL CONFIRMED FOR TINDERBOX

This summer, Odense welcomes the only Scandinavian concert with the rock legend and also a visit to Tinderbox from the eminent The Savage Rose.

It finally happened! After many months of hard work, the deal is finally in place with one of the biggest names in the rock genre – legend Neil Young. This is the rock icon’s only concert in Scandinavia on this tour, and for his first concert at Tinderbox Neil Young will be bringing his enthusiastic and potent backing band Promise of the Real.

From the time in Buffalo Springfield to albums with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the many solo records that have come since the late 60s, Canadian Neil Young has stood as one of rock history’s main voices. He is a member of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield, he has been involved in the founding of the Farm Aid and Bridge School Concerts and has been nicknamed the Godfather of Grunge.

An early highlight of Neil Young’s career was the beautiful album “Harvest”, which was not just number one in the United States, but also the best-selling album in the United States that year. Today the album has been chosen as one of the 70’s best releases, and 20 years later the album received a sister in the form of “Harvest Moon”, which is almost as loved among reviewers and fans.

The counteraction to the two acoustic Harvest records is a series of records recorded with the band Crazy Horse, whose incredible live energy was captured live on “Rust Never Sleeps”. Here you find the classic “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)”, but the collaboration also shines on songs like “Cortez the Killer”, “Mansion on the Hill” and “Cinnamon Girl” and has also impressed at a lot of Danish concerts through time.

Born in 1945, Neil Young’s age never weighs on the influential musician whose life can best be summed up in a line from one of his greatest hits – “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World “. He is one of a kind, and an uncompromising tornado on a stage that is not afraid to move into long guitar solos, where the feedback cries so loud that it can awaken the dead.

One is tempted to say no one is above and no one is beside the giant Neil Young, who in 2019 at age 73 will play his first concert in Odense ever. It will undoubtedly be epic.

The most important Danish band from the same period is The Savage Rose with the wonderful Annisette Koppel in front. The band debuted in 1968 with an album, which today stands as one of the most groundbreaking Danish releases ever. The band was able to celebrate their 50th anniversary two years ago, but the age does not affect the band, and The Savage Rose is ready to deliver one of their usual sublime concerts when they visit Tinderbox for the first time this summer.

The line-up for Tinderbox 2019 now looks as follows: A$AP Rocky, Benal, Billie Eilish, The Chainsmokers, Dermot Kennedy, Diplo, Dropkick Murphys, Duran Duran, Dzeko, EDX, Faustix, Gnags, Greta Van Fleet, LOC, Lana Del Rey, Lil Uzi Vert, Lost Frequencies, Loud Luxury, The Lumineers, Lydmor, Macklemore, Martin Jensen, The Minds of 99, Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Nervo, Peter Sommer & Tiggerne, Phlake, Rick Astley, The Savage Rose, Sheryl Crow, Sigrid, Skunk Anansie, Suspekt, Swedish House Mafia and Wolfmother.
