Not only is RAYE a brilliant singer and songwriter (who’s written for the likes of John Legend, Khalid, and Beyonce to name a few). She’s also one of the biggest fighters in the music industry which can be ugly at times.

The singer and songwriter always dreamed of releasing records, but found out that her label had different interests. Although she had a four records contract, she wasn’t allowed to release her debut album. Instead, she was featuring on some of the worlds’ biggest producer’s tracks. She racked up millions of streams for her up-tempo, dancefloor-bangers like “Secrets” by Regard or “You Don’t Know Me” with Jax Jones. But as it turned out, that wasn’t her dream.

After openly having told her story of fighting for her right to release her own record, she parted ways with her label in 2021, and have now finally announced her debut album My 21st Century Blues, set for release on March 3rd.

To judge from the so-far released tracks like “Black Mascara.” and 100 million-streaming “Escapism.” (feat. 070 Shake), the record looks to be more R&B and hip hop than #1 pop hits. More disco than dance. More RAYE…

Right now, more than 28 million fans listen to RAYE on Spotify every month, proving that RAYE 2.0 is here to stay and succeeds from her independency. RAYE has found herself again and won back her confidence and she’s writing songs right from the heart to everyone who’s overcome adversity.
