Dynamic, artistic, playful, liberating… A lot of words can be used to describing the music that has made American singer, songwriter, activist, and actor Janelle Monáe one of the most defining and praised artists of the international pop scene.

With the GRAMMY-nominated debut album The ArchAndroid from 2010, Janelle Monáe introduced their retro-futuristic sound with hit singles like “Tightrope” and “Cold War”. In 2013, the eclectic artist followed up with The Electric Lady featuring guests like Prince, Solange, Miguel, and Erykah Badu, and in 2018 they unleashed Dity Computer – yet another manifestation of Monáe’s indisputable talent.

Janelle Monáenreleased their fourth record last year with The Age of Pleasure – a record stacked with liberating queer anthems causing a well-deserved GRAMMY nomination in the category Album of the Year.

Janelle Monáe is known for delivering mind-blowing live performances which has also proven to be the case when they’ve visited Denmark in the past. Following the star’s last play at Roskilde Festival’s Orange Stage in 2019, Danish daily newspaper Politiken wrote: “With an absolutely superior set list and a showmanship breaking all boundaries, Janelle Monáe’s performance at Orange [stage] was a liberating, powerful blast of a concert.
