Jacob Collier plays with sound like a scientist in a laboratory.
The British multi-instrumentalist and vocal virtuoso, Jacob Collier, has rapidly established himself as one of the most creative and technically gifted artists of his generation. He effortlessly jumps between piano, drums, and synthesizers, as if the instruments were made to play themselves under his fingertips.
In 2013, one of his YouTube covers went viral and caught the attention of none other than producer Quincy Jones, who quickly took him under his wing as a mentor. Since then, he has released four critically acclaimed albums blending everything from jazz, R&B, and pop to classical choral harmonies. His debut album, In My Room (2016), was created in the back room of his family home in Finchley, London, and earned him his first Grammy.
Now with six Grammys to his name, Jacob Collier is the first British artist ever to win awards for each of his first four albums. He has collaborated with stars like Coldplay, SZA, John Mayer, and Stormzy, and his fans include musical legends like Herbie Hancock and film composer Hans Zimmer.
Get ready as Jacob Collier takes the stage at Tinderbox, playing with sound like a mad scientist in a laboratory, constantly experimenting with microtonal harmonies and boundary-breaking scales.
