Global icons Green Day take the stage at Tusindårsskoven.

With over 75 million albums sold, 10 billion total music and video streams, five Grammy Awards, and a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it’s safe to say that Green Day has been making rock history since their formation in California in 1986.

Green Day’s wild career really took off when they released the groundbreaking album Dookie in 1994, featuring tracks like “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around.” The album sold over 10 million copies and achieved 10x Platinum Diamond status.

Dookie was not only the beginning of something big for Green Day but also for a whole wave of punk rock that suddenly gained mainstream attention, leading Entertainment Weekly to call Green Day “the most influential band of their generation.”

Since then, many more successful albums have come from Green Day, enriching us with a series of immortal punk rock classics like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “American Idiot.” Earlier this year, the band released their 14th album titled Saviors, which debuted at #1 on seven different Billboard charts, cementing that Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool, and Mike Dirnt are still going strong nearly four decades into their career.

“It’s Green Day’s world now,” wrote The New Yorker after the release of Saviors, and we can only agree.
